Why Are Jeans Blue?
The majority of jeans sold in clothing markets around the world are blue. This is because jeans were originally designed for workers in the American West who worked. They were dyed blue to prevent mosquito bites. The dye used for jeans is made by fermenting the leaves of the indigo plant, which not only pests but also repels venomous snakes. Since then, jeans have truly become a global trend. In 1984, about 85 million pairs of jeans were sold worldwide, roughly one-sixth of the world's population at that time (the world population in 1984 was about4.785 billion).
